What changes are being made to the London Congestion Charge?
From 2 January 2026, the daily Congestion Charge will increase from £15 to £18. A new Cleaner Vehicle Discount is also being introduced for electric vehicles (EVs) registered with Auto Pay.
What is the Cleaner Vehicle Discount?
It’s a 25% discount for eligible EV drivers who use Auto Pay. This means you will pay £13.50 per day instead of £18, saving you approximately £1,035* per year.
Who can get the 25% discount?
Electric vehicle (EV) drivers who:
Register their vehicle with Transport for London (TfL)
Use Auto Pay for the Congestion Charge
How do I register for the Auto Pay discount?
Follow these steps:
Download the “TfL Pay to Drive in London” app:
Create an account
Click ‘Apply for AutoPay’
Add your EV to your account
Register your card details
Once completed, the discount will be automatically applied from 2 January 2026.
When will the discount start applying?
The 25% Cleaner Vehicle Discount will automatically apply from 2 January 2026, as long as you are registered with Auto Pay.
Does Uber offer any support to help cover these charges?
Yes. Uber will continue to pay drivers the £1.50 Central London Fee for every trip that starts, ends, or passes through the Congestion Charge zone.
