Ramadan Driving Tips for Uber & PCO Drivers

Stay safe, energised and productive this Ramadan with WeFlex

Ramadan is a special and reflective time for many drivers across London and the UK. If you're observing the fast while continuing to drive for Uber, Bolt or other ride-hailing platforms, balancing long hours on the road with fasting can be challenging.

At WeFlex, we support thousands of professional drivers — and we know how important it is to prioritise your health, safety and earnings during Ramadan.

Here are practical Ramadan driving tips to help you stay focused, safe and productive.

1. Plan Your Driving Around Your Energy Levels

Fasting affects everyone differently. Many drivers find:

  • Energy dips mid-afternoon

  • Concentration lowers closer to sunset

  • Early mornings can feel easier after Suhoor

If possible, plan your driving schedule around when you feel most alert. Some drivers prefer:

  • Driving early mornings after Suhoor

  • Taking a rest mid-afternoon

  • Returning to work after Iftar when energy is restored

Listening to your body is key.

2. Stay Hydrated Between Iftar and Suhoor

Dehydration can lead to:

  • Headaches

  • Slower reaction times

  • Fatigue

  • Reduced concentration

Make hydration a priority during non-fasting hours. Drink plenty of water and avoid excessive caffeine, which can increase dehydration.

Tip: Keep a water bottle in your car ready for Iftar so you can break your fast safely if you're parked.

3. Take Regular Breaks

Even more than usual, breaks are essential during Ramadan.

If you feel:

  • Light-headed

  • Irritable

  • Drowsy

  • Less focused

Pull over safely and rest.

Safety always comes first — for you, your passengers and other road users.

4. Be Extra Aware Near Iftar Time

Demand often increases before sunset as passengers rush home to break their fast. This can mean:

  • Heavier traffic

  • More impatient drivers

  • Increased congestion

Stay calm and allow extra time for journeys. It’s better to complete trips safely than rush and risk accidents.

5. Adjust Your Expectations

You may not want to work the same hours you normally would — and that’s okay.

Ramadan is about balance. If needed:

  • Reduce long shifts

  • Focus on peak times only

  • Consider flexible rental options

At WeFlex, flexibility is built into how we support drivers — whether you’re renting or working towards ownership.

6. Drive Efficiently to Reduce Fatigue

If you're in an EV, smooth driving helps both range and comfort:

  • Avoid harsh acceleration

  • Use regenerative braking

  • Plan charging stops in advance

  • Pre-condition your car where possible

Efficient driving means fewer unexpected stops and less stress during your shift.

7. Prioritise Sleep

Late nights and early mornings can disrupt your sleep routine. Try to:

  • Nap between shifts

  • Avoid screens before sleeping

  • Keep your sleep space cool and dark

Even small improvements in sleep can make a big difference to focus on the road.
