London’s ride-hailing drivers are set to benefit from a major expansion of the capital’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, as Motor Fuel Group (MFG) rolls out a 30% increase in its ultra-rapid EV Power charging network inside the M25.
As the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator, MFG is accelerating the deployment of ultra-rapid EV hubs across London, with chargers delivering up to 300–400kW—capable of adding around 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes, depending on the vehicle. For ride-hailing drivers, where time off the road means lost earnings, this development could be a game changer.
Each new EV Power Hub will feature an average of seven bays, supporting high vehicle turnover and reducing wait times. Recently opened locations include St Pauls Cray, Bush Hill (A10), and Leyton (A112), with more hubs coming online throughout 2025.
London’s ride-hailing sector has seen growing adoption of EVs, spurred on by policies like the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) and the Congestion Charge. Yet, reliable access to fast charging remains a daily headache for many drivers. MFG’s continued investment aims to directly address this.
Martin Symes, Director of EV at MFG, noted:“London is a key focus for our EV charging infrastructure investment. By expanding existing sites and opening new hubs, we’re helping to make EV ownership more convenient and accessible—especially for drivers who rely on their vehicles for work every day.”
Adding to its footprint, MFG’s acquisition of 337 Morrisons forecourts unlocks significant land and parking space for future hubs. Five EV Power Hubs are set to be built on Morrisons car parks in London, including sites in Borehamwood and Stratford. These hubs will offer a suite of amenities familiar to ride-hailing drivers, including food and coffee options like Costa, Pret A Manger, Greggs, Subway—and in Borehamwood, a brand-new Burger King and Car Wash Centre as part of a £3 million investment.
This expansion is part of MFG’s wider £400 million commitment to EV infrastructure by 2030. With around 1,000 ultra-rapid chargers already installed across 200+ UK locations, the company is positioning itself as a key player in keeping professional drivers moving.
For ride-hailing professionals in the capital—where minutes matter and clean air regulations are reshaping the industry—MFG’s growing EV network may offer a much-needed boost to charging accessibility, convenience, and ultimately, profitability.
