WeFlex Joins the Electric London Coalition – Driving London's EV Future Forward

At WeFlex, we’ve always believed in a cleaner, greener London—and we’re proud to announce our involvement in the Electric London coalition, a powerful alliance of forward-thinking organisations united to supercharge the capital’s transition to electric vehicles (EVs).

As signatories of the coalition’s open letter to the Mayor of London, we are urging bold, coherent, and ambitious EV policies. The message is clear: if London is to maintain its world-leading position in EV adoption, decisive action is needed now.

Why This Matters

London is a global leader in EV adoption—over a third of new cars registered in the city are electric. The shift has delivered immense air quality benefits, not just for central London but across the entire city, with over 90% of these improvements being felt outside the congestion zone.

One key driver of this success has been the Cleaner Vehicle Discount—a policy that has allowed EVs to access central London free of charge. This incentive has helped thousands of businesses and individuals make the switch to electric. But now, it’s under threat.

In just six months, the Cleaner Vehicle Discount is set to be rolled back. This could mean new costs of up to £13.50 per day for EV drivers, reversing progress and discouraging investment in electric fleets.

Our Mission: Drive EV Momentum, Sustain London’s Leadership

Our mission aligns with that of the Electric London coalition: to drive EV momentum in London and sustain our city’s world-leading position. As part of the coalition, we are calling on the Mayor and City Hall to act decisively in three key areas:

1. Maintain City-Level Incentives

We’re urging the Mayor to extend the Cleaner Vehicle Discount. This has been instrumental in encouraging EV adoption and should remain in place to reward those helping clean London’s air.

2. Ensure Equal Access to Affordable Charging

We need to enhance access to home charging rates and invest in more public charging infrastructure. All Londoners—regardless of where they live—should be able to charge affordably and conveniently.

3. Make EVs Affordable for All

We must unlock access to EVs for lower-income drivers and key workers. Cleaner air shouldn’t be a luxury—it should be a right accessible to all Londoners, regardless of income.

The Road Ahead

London has the opportunity to set a bold example for cities across the globe. But without continued support and leadership, we risk stalling just as the city’s transition begins to accelerate. At WeFlex, we’re committed to working hand-in-hand with partners, policymakers, and the Mayor’s office to ensure that London not only stays on track—but leads the world into a cleaner, electric future.

We’re proud to be part of this movement. Let’s keep London electric.
